Available Positions

Wildlife World Zoo is seeking individuals who are reliable and outgoing to join our team! We are currently hiring ride attendants, animal attendants and gift shop staff. Applicants must have reliable transportation and be able to work in all weather conditions. Having an outgoing personality and engaging with our guests is a must! We want all of our guests to have a memorable experience whether they are on a ride, interacting at one of our animal experiences or exploring the gift shop.

Janitor/Custodian 

Janitor / Custodian shift vary by season. 

Janitor/Custodian duties include but are not limited to cleaning gallery floors, exhibit windows, and doors, cleaning the restrooms, taking out and picking up trash, cleaning trash cans,  and performing basic restroom plumbing such as using an auger and replacing parts.

Careers

Gift Shop

Gift Shop duties include but are not limited to selling admission tickets to customers in person and over the phone, selling merchandise to customers inside the gift shop, answering multi-line telephones, pricing new merchandise, and stocking the gift shops.

Gift Shop  Requirements: Must be 18 years or older, have a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation, be dependable, honest, patient, have great communication skills, able to work in a fast-paced environment, able to multitask, able to work alone or with others able to work in inclement weather

Animal Attendant 

Animal Attendant duties include but are not limited to: Making sure the animals and customers in your area are safe, raking/sweeping, giving change to customers so they may purchase feed for the animals, operating a credit card machine, helping clear the Zoo at the end of your shift. 

Animal Attendant Requirements: Must be 18 years or older, dependable, honest, patient, have great communication skills, have dependable transportation, able to work in a fast-paced environment, able to multitask, able to work alone or in a group, able to work in inclement weather. 

Ride Operator

Ride Operator duties include but are not limited to Selling ride tickets to customers, daily ride checks to make sure the rides are safe to operate, operating credit card machines, able to handle cash and giving change, raking/sweeping, assisting with help clear the Zoo at the end of your shift. 

Ride Operator Requirements: Must be 18 years or older, have a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation, dependable, honest, patient, great communication skills, able to work in a fast-paced environment, able to multitask, able to work alone or with others able to work in inclement weather

Grounds/Maintenance

Grounds/Maintenance shifts are 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the summer and 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the winter. 

Grounds/Maintenance duties include but are not limited to Maintaining Zoo and Aquarium landscaping, building and maintaining zoo and aquarium exhibits, small concrete jobs, simple plumbing, woodwork, simple electric, and irrigation.

Aquarist

The full-time aquarist position is part of the Aquarium department responsible for performing the routine animal care and maintenance required for marine and freshwater exhibits.  The Aquarist is required to be capable of delivering a high standard of work performance in the areas of animal and exhibit husbandry under the direction of the Aquarium Curator.

Food Service Cook

Responsibilities

  • Perform the steps of SSA EXTRA Guest Service to ensure a memorable experience for every guest and client.

  • Supports restaurant prep (BOH and line) for daily operation.

  • Meets daily food service, safety & quality, availability, and guest service standards.

  • Ensures proper food quantities are set for daily and ongoing service.

  • Participates in safety logs including food temperatures, rotation and waste as necessary.

  • Ensures safe food handling is maintained.

  • Ensures proper uniform, hygiene, hand-washing and glove use with self.

  • Maintains a SSAfe work environment by abiding to all SSAFETY rules.

  • Follows through daily prep and items lists, as assigned.

  • Actively and efficiently responds to guest and client feedback, reporting concerns to ensure that any potential complaints are mitigated against further occurrence.

  • Remains knowledgeable of all menu items, prices and specials for sharing with guests.

  • Assists with dishwashing as necessary.

  • Perform other tasks as deemed necessary.

  • Maintains a clean, safe and organized work environment.

  • Uphold and demonstrate a complete understanding of company policies and procedures.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Exceptional problem solving/decision making skills combined with the ability to be organized.

  • Demonstrates the ability to remain flexible in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ideal candidate is a team player, personable, professional, upbeat and energetic, and takes initiative.

  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and to move and handle boxes (10-35lbs) as necessary to operation, which entails lifting, and perform all functions as set forth above.

  • Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.

Food Service Associate

Reports to: Food Service Supervisor (if applicable) and/or Food Service Operations Manager(s)

 

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a SSAfe work environment by abiding to all SSAFETY rules.

  • Follows through daily prep and items lists, as assigned.

  • Actively helps to support operation in assigned role, supporting holes as necessary.

  • Actively and efficiently responds to guest and client feedback, with report to the supervisor to ensure that any potential complaints are mitigate against further occurrence.

  • Communicates up to the Restaurant Supervisor and/or Food Operations Manager in regard to any issues seen with daily service or quality.

  • Remains knowledgeable of all menu items, prices and specials for sharing with guests.

  • Perform other tasks as deemed necessary.

  • Maintains a clean, safe and organized work environment.

  • Uphold and demonstrate a complete understanding of company policies and procedures.

  • Responsibly geared towards presenting a clean and welcome experience for guests through upholding sanitation requirements.
